US Tax Associate Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented US Tax Associate to join our team. As a hybrid role, the employee is expected to work from home on specific days and attend the office on other days as determined by the Company.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills for client interactions, and experience in preparing or reviewing 1040 personal income tax returns and 1120 corporate income tax returns. Public accounting experience, preferably in tax, is also an asset.

Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferably) is required, while Master's of Commerce is preferred. The ability to complete engagements with limited supervision, as well as experience with accounting and tax software, is desirable.

This full-time position involves preparing personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns, applying provisions of US tax treaty to cross-border tax transactions, and assisting with Sales tax filings and registrations. The candidate will also be responsible for collaborating closely with partners and senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies and client tax planning assignments.

To succeed in this role, you must be a proactive problem solver, able to multitask and prioritize assignments. You should also be motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and take responsibility for self-improvement and professional growth and development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in preparing/and or reviewing 1040 personal income tax returns and 1120 corporate income tax returns
  • Public accounting experience (preferably in tax)
  • Effective communication skills for client interactions
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferably)
  • Master's of Commerce preferred
  • Ability to complete engagements with limited supervision
  • Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset
