Job Opportunity:

Senior Associate

The firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Associate to join its Indirect Tax Litigation team.

  • Handle tax matters related to indirect tax litigation, including preparation of submissions, replies to notices, appeals, and representation before tax authorities.
  • Assist clients in responding to department inquiries, investigations, and audits.
  • Prepare replies to show cause notices and audit replies.
  • Meet with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Prepare tax appeals to be filed at the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court (Tribunal, High Court / Supreme Court).
  • Assist seniors in representation before various judicial forums.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on various topics.
Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling key tasks including:

  • Handling tax matters related to indirect tax litigation.
  • Assisting clients in responding to department inquiries and investigations.
  • Preparing replies to show cause notices and audit replies.
  • Meeting with tax officers for hearings.
  • Preparing tax appeals to be filed at the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court (Tribunal, High Court / Supreme Court).
  • Assisting seniors in representation before various judicial forums.
Client Service Delivery/Execution:

Responsibilities:

  • Identify technical issues with clients and discuss them while being mindful of firm risk issues.
  • Execute work on multiple client bases, assuming near-independent responsibility for smaller clients.
Develops Commercial Acumen:

The role requires the ability to stay abreast of firm-wide and competitor activities and general business trends.

Networking & Identification of Opportunities:

Objectives:

  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with senior.
  • Network internally within the peer group and other levels in the firm to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.
Develops Strong Knowledge Base:

The ideal candidate should have a strong academic track record and preferably 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax.

Required skills include excellent communication and drafting skills, strong analytical and researching skills, and the ability to work proactively and reliably, with attention to detail.
