Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL expert to join our team. As a senior support engineer, you will be responsible for providing top-notch support and guidance to our clients.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, query optimization, and database administration. You will work closely with our team to troubleshoot complex issues, design and implement solutions, and provide training and mentoring to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert-level support for PostgreSQL-related issues
  • Design and implement solutions for complex problems
  • Mentor and train junior engineers in PostgreSQL best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business results

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL in production at scale
  • Deep expertise in Linux (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu) and shell scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Proven track record with Kubernetes and PostgreSQL Operators
  • Mastery of performance tuning: query plans, WAL tuning, connection pooling (PgBouncer, Pgpool-II)
  • Hands-on with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stacks
  • Excellent problem-solving, written/spoken English, and customer-facing skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with cloud-native services (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Background in backup/restore strategies (pgBackRest, Barman), PITR, and logical backup tooling
  • Working knowledge of NoSQL integrations (TimescaleDB, PostGIS, Citus)
