Job Title: Senior Category Manager FMCG

  • Role Overview: The successful candidate will oversee the management of the FMCG category team, focusing on strategic initiatives, vendor partnerships, and category development.

About the Job:

This role requires a seasoned professional with experience in managing similar categories. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, they should have good team management and training skills to lead a large team effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Category Management: Develop and execute strategies to drive category growth, manage vendors, and optimize promotions.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead a team of 8-10 members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their success.
  3. Vendor Partnerships: Negotiate with key vendors, discuss demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
  4. Collaboration: Closely work with various teams, including Store Operations, Supply Chain, Purchase, and Central Purchase to maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions.
  5. Training and Development: Train and groom Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers on-the-job and through classroom training.
  6. Availability and Pricing: Ensure availability in DC and stores day-in-day-out, maintaining competitive pricing in the market.

Requirements:

  • A Graduate/Postgraduate/MBA degree with at least 10 years of experience in FMCG sales is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in General Trade is preferred.
  • A strong knowledge of local language/location of posting is required.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Good team management and training skills are necessary for leading a large team effectively.
