About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our distributed engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications while improving legacy codebases for better reliability and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Ruby on Rails
  • Debug and enhance legacy systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Write clean, modular, and well-documented code following best practices
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
  • Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams; contribute to and maintain technical documentation
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases with a focus on performance and data integrity
  • Utilize AWS services and Kubernetes (K8s) for deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management
  • Optionally contribute to projects using Python, React, and TypeScript
  • Participate in agile workflows and sprint planning using JIRA, Confluence, and Slack

Required Qualifications

  • 9+ years of professional software development experience, primarily with Ruby on Rails
  • Strong debugging skills and experience working with and modernizing legacy systems
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL and relational database design
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes
  • Proven ability to write high-quality unit and integration tests
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a remote team setting
  • Strong emphasis on clean code, maintainability, and software design best practices
  • Excellent written communication skills and a habit of thorough technical documentation

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines
