Procurement Buyer Job Overview

The role of Procurement Buyer is a critical position within our organization, responsible for leading the procurement of electrical and electronic commodities in the automotive domain.

  • Key responsibilities include overseeing the procurement of wiring harnesses, sensors & switches, relays, fuses, connectors, control units/ECUs, lighting systems, instrument clusters, and other electronic sub-systems.

Strategic sourcing initiatives are essential to achieve best cost, quality, and delivery. This involves collaborating with suppliers, engineering, and quality teams to ensure reliable sourcing at competitive costs.

A strong understanding of localisation projects is also crucial to reduce dependency on imports and enhance supply chain resilience. This includes identifying, evaluating, and developing new and existing suppliers through thorough analysis and negotiation.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining QCD parameters for supplier performance and driving improvements, as well as monitoring market trends, raw material cost fluctuations, and emerging technologies in automotive electronics.

Qualifications:

Required skills and qualifications for this role include in-depth knowledge of automotive electrical & electronic commodity procurement, with key skills including proven expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor development, localisation, and cost management.

Strong negotiation, cost analysis, and supplier management skills are also essential, along with familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality processes in the automotive industry.

ERP knowledge (SAP/Oracle or equivalent) and MS Office proficiency are also required.
