Physical Education Teacher Role

A Physical Education Teacher is a highly skilled professional responsible for teaching physical education and sports to school children. Their duties include planning and leading PE lessons, getting students to compete in sporting events and evaluating their performance.

The role requires a deep understanding of the UK PE curriculum, knowledge of examination processes and requirements for GCSE and A-level, as well as expertise in various sports, physical training programmes, and first aid.

Responsibilities of a PE Teacher include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging PE lessons that cater to diverse learning styles
  • Coaching school sports teams to compete and succeed in nation-wide events
  • Motivating students to take up new sports or athletic pursuits, promoting lifelong physical activity
  • Evaluating student performance throughout the school year, providing constructive feedback
  • Attending parents' evenings, providing comprehensive reports on student progress

To excel in this role, a successful candidate will possess:

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the UK PE curriculum
  • Expertise in various sports, physical training programmes, and first aid
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging PE lessons
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Ability to pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
