Lead System Architect for Connected Home Devices

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced system architect to lead the design and development of connected home devices. This role will be part of a small geographically dispersed team, responsible for creating a framework for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of system architecture for appliances such as washers, dryers, cooktops, ranges, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers. Familiarity with market trends like IoT, smart home, and appliance standardization requirements is a plus.
This role requires strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and build relationships with external customers and industry leaders. The candidate should be able to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences and take initiative to accomplish tasks with provided direction.
Responsibilities
- Interfacing with key OEM and other focus appliance customers
- Identifying potential technology disruptors
- Helping the system architecture team integrate customer needs, gather industry knowledge, and business insight to create compelling trends around technology and product trends that drive the organization forward
- Working within a small geographically dispersed system architecture team to share subject matter expertise and best practices
- Being exposed to the appliance industry, collaborating closely with external customers as well as internal business development, product management, and engineering development teams
- Supporting high-value platform NPI projects that require collaboration and interface with large groups
- Supporting the technical cooperation with customers and coordination of TE's internal development engineering team to assure technical and functional feasibility from the eyes of the customer
- Ensuring we follow required industry standards while helping to drive the strategy for new standards
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
- 8+ years' experience in the engineering field, preferably in domestic appliance and/or component supplier industry system design and related technologies
- Adequate knowledge of system architecture for appliances
- Familiarity with market trends like IoT and smart home
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to build relationships with external customers and industry leaders
Salary
$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on location and experience
