Job Title

Career Opportunity: Cassandra Database Administrator.

  • This role requires experience with the design, maintenance and administration of NoSQL databases, specifically Cassandra and MongoDB.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage mission-critical high transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of both traditional SQL databases (MySQL/Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB).
  2. Install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
  3. Manage an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering services, including deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
  4. Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment.
  5. Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.
  6. Collaborate with product engineering teams to ensure Operations standards are observed, determine resource impacts for upcoming product deployments, and ensure successful product rollouts.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB) required.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona) required.
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms.
