Renewable Energy Land Acquisition Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Renewable Energy Land Acquisition Specialist. This key role will be responsible for overseeing and managing land acquisition activities for wind projects.

The successful candidate will play a crucial part in creating a land pool for under-construction wind projects and developing a pipeline for the organization.

  • Provide support for project development activities and collaborate with different departments for land acquisition and related tasks for wind projects.
  • Identify suitable developers/aggregators for wind energy projects, focusing on primary states.
  • Ensure adherence to statutes and regulations related to land, forest, and other approvals.
  • Assess risks in land acquisition and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Lead legal due diligence and documentation with internal/external lawyers, ensuring clear and marketable title of potential lands before acquisition.
  • Participate in drafting, finalization, and execution of Sale/Lease Deeds and such agreements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless land acquisition for wind energy projects.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Handle interactions with local agencies and stakeholders for smooth acquisition and usage of lands for wind energy projects until commissioning.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in land procurement/acquisition for wind and/or solar projects.
  • Significant experience in land acquisition involving revenue/private/forest land, exploring potential site acquisitions, preparing valuation reports, and negotiating land acquisitions.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective communication with team members, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of government policies, permits, and regulatory requirements related to renewable energy projects and land acquisition.
  • Familiarity with land acquisition processes, including procurement, leasing, easement, etc., for renewable power projects.
  • Ability to conduct preliminary due diligence checks on lands and assess land risks.
  • Proficiency in identifying suitable developers/aggregators for renewable energy projects.
  • Proven ability to secure lands within targeted timelines.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to execute land procurement targets, plans, and project development activities.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address challenges in land acquisition and project development.
