We are seeking a talented Research Intern to join our team at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), a leading provider of financial services to institutional investors.
About the RoleAs a Research Intern, you will be responsible for developing new quant strategies or enhancing existing ones using investment insights and sophisticated statistical techniques. You will work under the guidance of Senior Investment Researcher in the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Conceptualize and develop/enhance alpha strategies using statistical techniques such as optimization, machine learning, deep learning, and NLP, data analysis techniques, and economic insights.
- Back-test and evaluate investment strategies, data vendors, alternative data, and signals to drive innovation and enhance alpha generation capability.
- Manipulate and analyze large datasets, with relevant visualization efforts on the analysis conducted.
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Strong familiarity with quantitative methods and tools is also essential. A basic understanding of core financial concepts is required.
Education & Preferred QualificationsWe welcome candidates with a Master's in Management, M.Sc. Mathematics, or Masters in Finance, with coursework focused on Mathematical Finance, Econometrics, Statistics. Dual Degree engineering students with minors in Economics or Finance are also encouraged to apply.
Strong programming skills in R, Python, and/or Matlab are preferred. Relevant coursework includes Mathematical & Statistical Methods, Econometric Methods, Applied Econometrics, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Derivatives & Risk Management, Financial Engineering, Quantitative Analysis of International Trade, and Introduction to Financial Mathematics.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated annual salary for this role is $80,000-$100,000, depending on location and experience.
