About Our Apparel Design Position

At our firm, we are creating a luxury kidswear label that is known for its heirloom quality and capsule-wardrobe ease. As a part-time Apparel Designer, you will be responsible for turning trend insight into timeless pieces from initial sketch to production hand-off.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Apparel Design & Development
    1. Design kidswear garments (ages 1–6) that embody our luxury-capsule vision. This involves creating seasonal concepts, sketches, and detailed flats focused on comfort, growth stages, and practicality.
      1. Research fabrics, trims, and construction techniques that balance softness, durability, and sustainability.
        1. Translate brand storytelling into wearable, scalable pieces for little wardrobes.
    2. Sampling & Production Coordination
      1. Communicate with manufacturers and suppliers to request samples, clarify technical requirements, and track revisions.
        1. Coordinate fit sampling and wear tests to ensure functionality and comfort across age ranges.
          1. Monitor production timelines and sample deliveries with precision.
      2. Tech Pack & Specification Management
        1. Build and maintain crystal-clear tech packs: graded specs, stitch counts, trims, BOMs, and construction notes.
          1. Keep all documentation up-to-date and shareable with production partners.
        2. Vendor & Sourcing Collaboration
          1. Identify and vet manufacturers and fabric vendors based on quality, pricing, and MOQs.
            1. Support negotiations and onboarding—especially for sustainable or organic materials.
              1. Collaborate on custom developments or adjustments based on sampling feedback.
          2. Product & Process Documentation
            1. Maintain a digital archive of designs, sample photos, production notes, and feedback rounds.
              1. Streamline workflows by documenting best practices and production history.
        3. Qualifications
          1. 2-5 yrs apparel design experience (kidswear)
          2. Proven skill in print development—creating seamless repeats, artwork separations, and colorways ready for production.
            1. Strong grasp of garment construction, sizing for ages 1–6, and safe materials.
              1. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (or CLO3D) and Excel/Sheets for spec work.
                1. Comfortable collaborating with vendors on sampling, revisions, and timelines.
                  1. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple deadlines remotely.
                    1. Interest in fabric sourcing, sustainable materials, or small-batch production.
