The ideal candidate will combine strong programming skills with deep knowledge of retrieval systems.

  • Design and Implement Advanced Retrieval Functionality: Use modern technologies (such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or similar platforms) to create high-quality, scalable retrieval applications with focus on relevancy, performance, and user experience.
  • Develop Retrieval Algorithms and Ranking Models: Create and optimize retrieval algorithms, ranking models, and methods to improve retrieval quality.
  • Create Data Indexes: Build indexes from various data sources to enhance retrieval capabilities.
  • Implement Query Understanding and Relevance Scoring: Develop efficient query understanding and relevance scoring mechanisms to improve retrieval results.
  • Analyze and Maintain Retrieval Infrastructure: Analyze and maintain existing retrieval infrastructure and applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Design and Execute A/B Tests: Design and execute A/B tests to measure retrieval quality improvements and identify areas for optimization.
  • Develop Efficient Indexing Strategies: Implement efficient indexing strategies and data preparation pipelines to improve retrieval performance.
  • Implement Machine Learning Models: Develop machine learning models for retrieval ranking to improve retrieval accuracy.
  • Monitor and Optimize Retrieval Performance Metrics: Monitor and optimize retrieval performance metrics to ensure optimal user experience.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience developing retrieval solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of retrieval concepts (TF-IDF, BM25, vector search).
  • Expertise in SQL databases and experience with NoSQL solutions.
  • Experience with text processing, NLP, and relevance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of modern neural search techniques and vector embeddings.
  • Experience with Knowledge Graphs/ Graph RAG and related infrastructure (Neo4J etc).
  • Familiarity with relevance evaluation metrics (NDCG, MRR, MAP).
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
