Aviation Design Lead

The Aviation team is seeking a skilled Airfield Engineer to lead our office. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering airfield civil engineering design and maintenance projects.

CORE Functions
  • Lead the design of airfield civil engineering projects.
  • Manage project delivery, overseeing junior team members, planning work, and managing technical engineering projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications for airfield engineering projects.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, ensuring quality management requirements are met.
  • Contribute to the full design process, providing technical input and communicating designs with team members, industry associates, and clients.
  • Identify and manage design risks, issues, and RFIs.
  • Support Project Managers by monitoring project progress and developing project controls.
  • Implement technical quality requirements, address project briefs, and meet client deadlines.
  • Act as a role model, line manager, and mentor for other staff.
  • Champion excellent health and safety in design.
Qualifications and Work Experience

The ideal candidate should have sound technical abilities to enhance and grow the team. They will be knowledgeable and experienced in Civil Engineering projects at airports.

  • 10 years of experience working on civil infrastructure design at airports.
  • Extensive experience working on large, technically complex multi-disciplinary airport projects.
  • Proven experience managing engineering professionals in technical aviation projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Experience of international airfield design standards such as ICAO and FAA.
