Rotating Equipment Expert


A seasoned professional is sought for a position as Rotating Equipment Expert. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for applying expertise in rotating equipment to optimize process plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in rotating equipment includes pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gears, coupling, blowers, fans, and other similar equipment found in oil refineries and petrochemical plants.
  • Detailed understanding of rotating equipment features, mechanical details, specification, and application, including proper seals, bearings, lubrication systems, anti-surge controls, and governors.
  • Application of rotating equipment in specific process plant applications, considering factors such as materials selection, seal type, and evaluation of pump and compressor performance curves relative to process system hydraulics.
  • Strong familiarity with related vendors and their products, enabling effective technical evaluations of vendor proposals.
  • Experience working with operators and other plant personnel to evaluate operating equipment in a process plant environment.
  • Ability to prepare and review specifications based on process data, ensuring alignment with industry standards (API, ANSI, NEMA, etc).
  • Evaluation of existing equipment suitability for new conditions, such as during unit revamp.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to lead meetings with customers and vendors regarding equipment specifications, bid evaluations, design calculations, and vendor drawing reviews.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in rotating equipment design and operation within the Refining, Petrochemical, and Gas Processing industries.
  • Proficient computer skills for specification generation, technical evaluations, and electronic data sharing across geographically separated work groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members and engineering personnel.
  • Openness to occasional worldwide travel (up to 10%) for short durations (typically between a few days and two weeks).
