Job Title: System Programmer for IBM MQ on z/OSWe are seeking an experienced System Programmer to administer and support Enterprise Messaging Infrastructure on the z/OS Platform. The ideal candidate will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing messaging infrastructure that supports enterprise applications and batch processes.Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM Messaging Solutions on z/OS.
  • Manage messaging objects including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.
  • Monitor messaging performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency.
Upgrade Support:
  • Plan and execute upgrades of messaging solutions on z/OS.
  • Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades.
Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and manage security protocols including Certificate-Based Authentication, RACF integration, and security exits.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments.
System Programming & Integration:
  • Support integration of messaging solutions with z/OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for messaging operations.
Disaster Recovery & High Availability:
  • Design and implement High-Availability Messaging Configurations and RESLEVEL configurations.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for messaging environments.
Collaboration & Support:
  • Partner with developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve messaging-related issues.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
Documentation & Process Improvement:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of messaging configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify, propose, and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Technical Expertise:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Messaging Solutions.
  • Deep understanding of messaging queue sharing groups, FTE configurations, and monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools.
