About the India Content Team

Our content team in India is responsible for creating and localizing content for our platform. We are seeking a language expert to support our Math and Science offering in Marathi.

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced language expert who is fluent in Hindi and has a strong background in Science, specifically Biology. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the subject matter and be able to create high-quality content that is engaging and accessible to learners.

The role will involve localizing and recreating videos and exercises from English to Hindi for students studying Hindi medium. The candidate will also be responsible for interacting with state teachers to better understand their needs and incorporating feedback into the content.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also have a strong attention to detail and be able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Review and edit KA Science Hindi content and/or create and localize new content as needed
  • Collect on-ground feedback on content by interacting with state teachers and incorporating feedback into the content
  • Localize content available in English in your respective language keeping its originality intact
  • Go through Hindi Science textbooks to highlight any modifications needed before localization
  • Read through original material, review it and rewrite it in the target language in case needed, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained
  • Along with State Board and NCERT Books use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used
  • Research on relevant phraseology to find the correct translation
  • Proofread and edit final translated versions on the basis of the basic quality parameters (Meaning, Readability, Compliance, Terminology, Consistency and Linguistics)
  • Retain and develop knowledge on specialist areas of translation
  • Adapt the Khan Academy's Style Guide for your language (Hindi)
  • Develop glossary for the specific terminologies to be used in Khan Academy's localization process and continuously update it with new terminology
Requirements
  • Fluency in Hindi language (speaking and writing)
  • Native Hindi speaker
  • Strong background in Science, specifically Biology
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
