Job Title

We are seeking a researcher with expertise in physics to help enhance large language models.

The role involves fine-tuning and evaluating LLMs, focusing on complex physics problems, including multi-step conceptual or quantitative questions.

  • Calculating the maximum radial distance an electron emitted from a long cylindrical conductor reaches due to the magnetic field generated by the current.
  • Calculating the probability of a high-energy pion decaying within a certain distance from its origin, given its rest mass and proper lifetime.

This task aims to identify model weaknesses and improve training and evaluation workflows.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Academic Background: PhD/Postdoc in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to solve advanced physics problems with clear reasoning.
  • Communication Skills: Clarity in explaining complex topics and providing feedback.
  • Research Independence: Ability to work independently in a remote environment and participate actively in team discussions.
  • Technical Setup: Access to a reliable computer and internet setup for remote assignments.
Benefits

This position is open only to candidates who have completed or are pursuing a Ph.D. The selected candidate will commit at least 4 hours/day and minimum 20 hours/week with 4 hours of overlap with PST. The engagement type is contractor assignment/freelancer. The duration of the contract is 1 month. Task-based assessment followed by a contract offer with defined timelines and workload.
