Marine Vetting Specialist

i-Consultancy Pte Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Marine Vetting Specialist to join our team in Chennai. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all current and projected legislative, industry, and client standards and best practices.

• Promote a strong, proactive safety culture and ensure the company's safety culture is maintained to the highest possible standards.
• Provide interface between BU Cluster and Group management on Vetting issues and act as Vetting representative for client meetings, authority liaison, and external forums.
• Actively participate in shore- and vessel-based safety meetings and Senior Leadership Engagement sessions to encourage constructive discussion and drive management engagement.
• Provide timely and accurate information to clients on all marine and operational matters, ensuring Vetting input to client reports.
• Collaborate with all BU Cluster teams and functions to ensure continual improvement in performance against relevant internal and external KPIs and objectives.
• Deliver against all Group programs, campaigns, objectives, and projects that support achievement of Vetting performance, Group KPIs, and delivers additional local value.
• Ensure BU Cluster performance data is proactively analyzed and utilized to inform effective, data-driven decisions to enhance performance.
• Identify trends within local performance and implement effective measures to correct or enhance as necessary.
• Ensure data submitted to clients is effectively collated and submitted on time to accurately reflect relevant performance criteria.
• Oversight of local compliance with Vetting-related legislative, operational, client-driven, and internal standards to ensure customer relations and satisfaction are continually maintained.
• Conduct and action of Vetting inspections, including HSSEQ lead for external audits and internal assurance program, incorporating commercial standards (TMSA, DryBMS, etc.).
• Support the BU Cluster HSSEQ Manager for external audits and internal assurance program, incorporating industry standards (ISM, ISO, ISPS, etc.).
• Undertake, report, and manage actions arising from required inspection, providing an oversight of on-board safety and vessel management, level of crews' safety culture and safety awareness, effectiveness of on-board VMS implementation and compliance with relevant external standards, and effectiveness of support afforded to the fleets from all BU Cluster functions and teams.
• Incidents and Lessons Learnt: Support the BU Cluster HSSEQ Manager for BU Cluster investigations of Accidents, Incidents, and HiLo Near Misses, where required, and provide BU Cluster Vetting representation and involvement during client-led investigations.
• Development and Evolution: Identify opportunities for growth and development of the Vetting function, monitor local industry and legislative developments to support HSSEQ in ensuring the Vetting program and operational aspects are evolved to meet future legislative, operational, and strategic demands.

• Qualifications and experience sailing as Marine Deck Officer or Engineer in a relevant marine field.
• Experience of working with relevant industry Vetting standards and systems (TMSA, OVMSA, DryBMS, etc.).
• Experience of interfacing with clients and meeting their demands in relation to implementation and management of Vetting-specific aspects.
• Strong, clear communication skills, especially regarding maintenance of Vetting standards.
• Recognised Incident Investigator qualification.
• Experience of delivering against needs of various statutory external bodies.
• Significant experience in engaging and collaborating with multinational/multicultural teams.

• Good working knowledge of ISM and ISPS codes, other standards (MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISO, OHSAS, etc.) & statutory regulations relating to vessel operations.
• Recognised Lead Incident Investigator qualification.
• Recognised academic or professional qualification in a relevant field.
• Strong data analytical skills.
