Job Title: Turbo Machinery Engineer

Job Summary
  • The primary responsibility of this role is to investigate and enhance the fuel flexibility capability of gas turbines, with a focus on utilizing green fuels. Green fuels pose unique challenges due to their high reactivity, which can lead to excessive heat loads on the burner. Therefore, it is essential to improve combustion prediction for hydrogen-enriched fuels and perform model calibration using measurement data.
  • In the development process, we utilize various tools and techniques, including network models, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), acoustic simulations, water tests, atmospheric and high-pressure combustion tests, and gas turbine engine tests.
  • The objective of this role is to develop and evaluate numerical simulations of hydrogen-enriched and other green liquid fuels for combustion purposes. The results will be compared to existing combustion tests or development projects.
  • Once familiar with the concept, the individual will also be involved in supporting the existing fleet, where they will gain further knowledge about engine behavior in conjunction with theoretical concepts developed.

Requirements:

  • A mechanical engineer with more than 6 years of experience in design and product development of turbomachinery, such as gas turbines and steam turbines.
  • A graduate or post-graduate degree from a recognized institution, preferably at the higher education level, with a Ph.D. in computational fluid dynamics and advanced courses in acoustics.
  • Good understanding of mass flow balance, total pressure, energy fluxes, and heat transfer.
  • Knowledge of chemical reaction progress within combustion systems.
  • Working experience with STAR CCM+ software and the ability to investigate results and propose improvements.
  • Familiarity with one-dimensional acoustic treatment and implementation in commercial software.
  • Interest in gas turbines, combustion, and numerical simulations.
  • Ability to learn and apply new methods based on one-dimensional inhouse code and STAR-CCM+.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, adaptability, imagination, innovation, and effective communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
