**Job Overview**:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PostgreSQL DBA to manage, optimize and scale our PostgreSQL databases in a Kubernetes environment.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise and hands-on experience working with mission-critical, high-throughput database systems.

  • Database Management: Design, implement and maintain highly available PostgreSQL clusters
  • Database Performance Optimization: Manage sharded database architecture and performance across multiple pods in Kubernetes
  • Query Tuning and Indexing Strategies: Optimize database performance, indexing, query tuning and vacuuming strategies
  • Database Troubleshooting and Recovery: Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve database issues including replication, failover and storage
  • Automated Database Processes: Automate backups, recovery plans and database provisioning
  • Database Security and Compliance: Ensure database security, access control and compliance with client policies
  • Collaborative Environment: Collaborate with DevOps and application teams for smooth database operations and integrations
  • Incident Management and Support: Participate in incident management and on-call support for database-related production issues

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability PostgreSQL clusters in a Kubernetes environment. This includes managing sharded database architecture and performance across multiple pods, optimizing database performance through indexing, query tuning, and vacuuming strategies, and ensuring database security, access control, and compliance with client policies.

Additionally, the Senior PostgreSQL DBA will collaborate with DevOps and application teams to ensure smooth database operations and integrations, and participate in incident management and on-call support for database-related production issues.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise and hands-on experience working with mission-critical, high-throughput database systems. They will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
