Financial Claims Specialist

The role of a Financial Claims Specialist is pivotal in the dental billing process, encompassing the accurate and efficient posting of payments and adjustments to patient accounts based on Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), electronic remittance advice (ERA), and other payment documentation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Post insurance payments, ERAs, and patient payments into the dental billing software with high accuracy and precision.
  • Reconcile deposits with bank statements and daily payment reports to ensure all payments are accounted for and discrepancies are minimized.
  • Review EOBs and ERAs to identify underpayments, overpayments, and denials, flagging discrepancies or trends for timely escalation and resolution.
  • Apply adjustments according to payer contracts and internal policies, maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality throughout.
  • Collaborate with appeals or collections teams for swift resolution of denied or unpaid claims, promoting optimal cash flow and patient satisfaction.
Key Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in financial claims processing, preferably within the dental industry.
  • Proficiency in dental management software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Google Workspace, is essential for success.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills are crucial, along with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
