Portfolio Management Professional

The Amherst Merchant Banking business unit oversees investment management activities, including debt and equity capital, venture formation, strategic acquisitions and disposals, and portfolio investment operations.

A key objective is to expand the global footprint in Mumbai, India, by establishing a strong team of professionals working across various functional areas in close collaboration with US-based personnel.

The Role:

You will play a critical role in investor reporting, shareholder updates, and stakeholder engagement for single-family rental (SFR) properties. You will communicate with leading institutional investors frequently and articulate our strategy and performance effectively.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior portfolio managers in the US to maintain and improve complex portfolio investment models.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio/financial models, including cash flow projections, fund-level waterfalls, IRR calculations, DCF, and NPV valuations.
  • Collaborate with the Austin, TX-based manager to evaluate and clarify investor requests, offer alternative solutions, and perform deep dives into operational metrics when necessary.
  • Work with the India-based manager to review models and reports and drive independent workflows.
  • Provide guidance to team members and lead on complex deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to centralize, eliminate, or automate activities.
  • Responsible for PM Investor Relations Reporting, including preparation and review of fund operational reports and modifications for SFR joint ventures with strategic investors on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly cadence, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Monitor the performance of operational reports and take corrective action to optimize or improve the reporting process when necessary.
  • Identify data discrepancies within weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational reports and communicate corrective solutions.
  • Support certain PM and Investor Reporting team members based in Austin, Texas, on additional reporting asks or special projects that build on understanding of the SFR business.

Requirements:

  • Education: MBA, CA, CFA preferred
  • Experience: 4-7 years of prior experience in Financial Services and/or Real Estate firms
  • Highly analytical mindset
  • Technical: Advanced skills in MS Office Excel and PowerPoint; Tableau and SQL a plus
  • Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
