GIS Developer Job Description

Job Title: GIS Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information System (GIS) Developer to join our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining GIS solutions, as well as administering map services using GeoServer and ArcGIS Server.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in software development.

Key Skills:

  • Tuning and troubleshooting map services for optimal performance
  • Maintaining and administering geodatabases using PostGIS, ArcGIS GeoDBs
  • Expertise in open-source GIS software, such as GeoServer, PostGIS, GDAL, GeoPandas, and GeoSpark
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, and TypeScript
  • Experience working with ESRI APIs and tools, as well as web frameworks like Angular, React, Node.js, and Openlayers

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
  • Ability to work in an agile environment using Scrum and Kanban
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

As a GIS Developer, you will play a critical role in driving the success of our organization by delivering high-quality GIS solutions that meet our customers' needs.

The ability to analytically address complex problems, process critical data, establish facts, and draw quality conclusions is essential for this role.
