Mainframe Storage System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team at a leading financial technology company. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of Mainframe storage subsystems to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configuration and maintenance of storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring of storage performance and resource utilization to identify and resolve bottlenecks and optimize data placement.
  • Implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaboration with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Development and maintenance of documentation, procedures and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Providing technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel and SCSI.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in Mainframe storage administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with Mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience utilizing DevOps practices and tools for Mainframe storage administration and automation.
