Job Title: Claims Specialist
Job Description:- The role of a Claims Specialist is to monitor and handle all legal issues regarding claims matters.
A key aspect of this job is to handle recovery actions for outstanding freight, detention, and demurrage, abandoned containers, and other recoverable costs.
This includes acknowledging receipt of new claims within 24 hours, gathering relevant documents and reporting to Head Office (HO) within 24 hours, advising on claim merits and future steps, and assisting HO in handling claims and court cases till closure.
Additionally, the Claims Specialist will handle P&I related matters, including cargo claims, stowage, and third-party damages, manage debt recoveries according to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) rules, and draft and review service agreements, MOUs, letters of intent, and other business-related documents.
They must also ensure procedures implemented by the Head Office Legal Department are followed, provide guidance and support to branch offices on legal matters, offer legal advice to other departments, and assist with shipping-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Graduate degree required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in the shipping industry, preferably with Cargo/Marine claims experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good analytical skills, reporting skills, trouble-shooting abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint
