Job Title: Mainframe Test Engineer

Job Description:

  • Perform thorough mainframe testing to guarantee the quality of software applications.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test cases, scripts, and procedures to identify and report defects effectively.
  • Collaborate with development teams to analyze and resolve complex issues found during testing.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and maintain test environments and infrastructure.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate, detailed test reports and documentation for future reference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of a robust test strategy and test plan documents to define scope and approach of testing.
  • Analysis of requirements and identification of test scenarios/design test cases to ensure thorough coverage.
  • Preparation of test data/test JCL according to test scenarios to facilitate smooth execution.
  • Execution of test cases by submitting jobs and analyzing results to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting of issues and coordination with development/support team for fixing errors in a timely manner.
  • Participation in continuous learning and upskilling programs, contribution towards training initiatives in practice.
  • Support to practice associates in respective domains with relevant expertise to enhance overall performance.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in testing life cycle process, creation of test cases/data/execution as per requirement/design.
  • Good understanding of editing JCL or creating JCL to submit test batch jobs efficiently.
  • Awareness of TSO/ISPF commands in mainframe for effective navigation.
  • Ability to analyze logs in spool for abended jobs and provide root cause of issue for further analysis.
  • Knowledge of editing mainframe files using layouts/copybooks using fileaid to modify data according to testing requirements.
  • Verification of database in DB2 or output files to verify outputs accurately.
  • Test data preparation according to test requirements for successful testing.
  • Experience in STLC lifecycle (software testing life cycle) or agile methodology and prepare test closure reports/signoff for testing.
