HazCom Expert Role Overview:

This position plays a vital role in ensuring the continuity and growth of the business by adhering to regulations applicable to the company's products and business activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and overseeing transactional processes, ensuring day-to-day compliance with applicable hazard communication regulations. Key responsibilities include Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring, label generation, and maintenance, as well as participation in the screening of new raw materials and Management of Change (MOC) processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and update of Safety Data Sheets and labels for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using standard systems and processes as per regional regulatory requirements.
  • Material introduction (NPI), classifications, and labeling (including dangerous goods classifications with SME inputs).
  • Interaction with global customers, suppliers, and other applicable functions in supporting hazard communication and regulatory compliance needs.
  • Completion of projects related to SDS creation and maintenance as identified.
  • Regulatory approval in the material master workflow for product creation, product extension, and product translation processes, ensuring satisfaction of regional hazard communication needs.
  • Ensuring compliance through management of regulatory checks/blocks.
  • Supporting change management by initiating Notification of Change (NOC) and participating in Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Establishment, management, and/or reporting of metrics for work and/or tie into global reporting to assure progress with respect to compliance and business growth is measured and communicated.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Engineering/Pharmacy/Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in/for a chemical/petrochemical or related industry with 4+ years of Product Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance/Environmental Health and Safety/Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene or other applicable experience.
  • SDS authoring experience with a good understanding of GHS and applicable regional regulations.
  • Good English verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Project management skills with the ability to run multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Computer literate in standard Microsoft office systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting to allow development of sound resolution of issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
