Job Overview

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a key competence center with a team of skilled engineers who focus on various aspects of infrastructure support, including engineering, planning, procurement, and commissioning.

As a Senior Infrastructure Specialist - Linux, you will be responsible for providing high-level technical support to clients across the globe, upholding the technical standards and procedures within the Linux Administration team.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Participate in existing operations and projects around Linux Infrastructure, including capacity planning, performance management, solutioning, architecture design, re-architecture, automation, and knowledge transfer.
  2. Make recommendations to client stakeholders for capacity concerns and assist in the implementation of recommendations.
  3. Own and manage the overall patching for all Linux systems, including regular and ad-hoc patches.
  4. Periodically review the overall Linux security posture and take necessary actions to address vulnerabilities and gaps in the environment.
  5. Own and participate in the RCA process for the Linux environment and take corrective actions to avoid similar outages in the future and improve overall system uptime.
  6. Partner with cross-functional teams for new projects, upgrades, or deployments to ensure smooth delivery and execution.
  7. Periodically review the entire Linux Infrastructure to identify gaps, single points of failure, repetitive tasks, and propose enhancements and automations to reduce human effort and improve availability and stability.

Your Background

  1. Minimum 10 years of experience in supporting mid-to-large Linux environments (on-prem/cloud).
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  3. In-depth experience and expertise in various Linux/Unix flavors, including Redhat, Oracle Linux, HP UX, and CentOS.
  4. Solid hands-on experience in UNIX Shell, PowerShell, Perl, and Python.
  5. Experience in managing operations in Azure Cloud, including monitoring and backup.
  6. Well-versed with various enterprise monitoring and devops tools, such as Nagios, OpenView, OpsGenie, Jira, Prometheus, Grafana, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and Elastic Search.
  7. Proficiency in both spoken and written English language is required.
