Job Description

A senior manager will be responsible for administering multiple Oracle and SQL server databases across various locations in a distributed environment.

The job holder will oversee the administration of databases, ensuring seamless operations, high performance, and optimal utilization of resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Training: Providing user support, escalating issues to corporate teams and third parties, identifying and resolving database-related issues, conducting health checks on DBs, formulating new requirements, generating ad-hoc reports, providing data setup support for QA and Dev environments, maintaining master data, monitoring report queues, administering Golden Gate replication routines, troubleshooting DB issues, and identifying bottlenecks.
  • Coordination with Vendors: Coordinating with vendors about new patches, requirements, and bugs within specified timelines.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Providing technical training to peers and subordinates within the IT department.
  • Release Deployment: Testing product patches, tracking issues, supporting User Acceptance Testing, and providing go-live support post-deployment of new features.
  • Following Departmental Processes: Maintaining issue trackers, approval records, and performing other duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across Medanta group of hospitals on short-term or long-term basis.
  • Healthcare knowledge is desirable.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Database Administration: Understanding of Oracle database architecture, cloning, patching, and upgrade. Experience with production critical/multi-terabyte Oracle Databases administration, monitoring, proactive health check of the database.
  • SQL Query Tuning: Expertise in installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of Oracle Golden Gate - 11g bidirectional replication. Knowledge in database backup/recovery including Hot Backup, Cold Backup, and RMAN.
  • Security Administration: Proficiency in Security administration like auditing, creating users, roles, profiles, assigning object level and column level grants, controlling users access to system resources.
  • Time Management and Analytical Skills: Basic UNIX shell commands and scripting. Time management, organizing, analytical/problem-solving skills.
