Role Overview

Data Center Controls Expert

This expert role involves designing, configuring, programming, installing, and troubleshooting data center controls and electrical SCADA systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop project scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts (LOE) to meet customer and stakeholder requirements.
  • Manage projects related to improving data center BMS, including managing scope, schedule, finance, and execution.
  • Assist in procurement activities, including request for quotation/proposals, responding to requests for information, reviewing vendor proposals, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Support control system commissioning activities in data centers.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure designs and installations meet technical requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc).
  • Develop data center vulnerability remediation playbooks for control system designs with IT teams.

Candidate Requirements

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent understanding of industry-standard electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers and controls/monitoring systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC controls and Electrical SCADA systems application specific controllers, Building Management System (BMS) controls software, and networks.
  • Ability to develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigating challenging situations.
  • Project coordination experience with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements for data centers.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, MQTT, BACnet, and MODBUS communication protocols.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
