Job Description

PetYosa is building a groundbreaking AI-powered pet ecosystem that includes a smart collar platform. This innovative solution combines pet health, veterinary services, grooming, boarding, e-commerce, and community features into a seamless experience for pet parents and service partners across India.

We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer who excels at designing and implementing robust, production-grade systems. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting APIs, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our backend systems, and shipping features that delight real users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices that drive PetYosa's core business flows.
  • Develop data models and database schemas optimized for performance and operational simplicity.
  • Implement robust authentication, authorization, payment integrations, audit trails, and secure data handling for medical/health data.
  • Design and operate data ingestion pipelines for FitYosa devices to ensure durability and near-real-time processing.
  • Implement caching, queueing, and backpressure strategies to maintain system performance under load.
  • Ship observability features, create runbooks for common operational scenarios, and support release management and incident response.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into reliable backend systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 2-4 years of experience building production backend systems with Node.js (TypeScript) and frameworks like Express/Nest.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB: schema design, indexing, query optimization.
  • Practical knowledge of caching (Redis) and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS).
  • Cloud experience (GCP or AWS): deploying services, setting up infrastructure, and managing costs.
  • Familiarity with Docker and basic orchestration concepts (Kubernetes experience is a plus).
  • Practical understanding of security best practices: tokens, encryption in transit/at rest, OWASP risks.
  • Track record of owning features end-to-end and shipping in a fast, iterative environment.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an in-office team.
