
Data Privacy Specialist

This position involves ensuring the highest standards of data privacy compliance in an organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and monitoring de-identification and anonymization procedures for personal data collected within various business units.
- Identifying direct and indirect identifiers, performing risk assessments on datasets, and providing guidance for mitigating such risks.
- Discussing data needs with stakeholders during planning phases and ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations while retaining data usefulness.
- Differentiating between personal and anonymized data and applying data avoidance and minimization principles.
- Reviewing technology introductions, particularly regarding re-identification risks (e.g., artificial intelligence), and suggesting appropriate measures.
- Interacting with data privacy compliance teams and representing relevant departments when necessary.
- Proposing ideas to enhance established data handling processes within the company.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A consistent track record of 6+ years in a software R&D function.
- At least 2 years of experience in a data privacy role, with a sound understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations and concepts.
- A thorough understanding of the differences between personal and anonymized data and the ability to apply data avoidance and minimization principles.
- Expertise in processing personal data and anonymization techniques (e.g., pseudonymization, obfuscation, k-anonymization, hashing, encryption).
- Experience in minimizing and de-identifying healthcare data and familiarity with data formats specific to healthcare images and relevant standards (e.g., DICOM, HL7).
- Experience interacting with data protection authorities, regulators, or government agencies will be an added advantage.
- Certifications like CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM(GDPR), DCPP are beneficial.
