Design Engineer Role

The primary responsibility of a Design Engineer is to oversee the detailed analysis of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication processes.

  • Performing DFM analysis in PCBA and fabrication analysis in PCB.
  • Analysis of testability and generating DFT reports.
  • Simulation of mechanical assembly process and creating DFA reports.
  • Creatings DFx procedure and checklists as per customer requirements.
  • Generating DFx reports according to findings and observations.

A successful candidate will work closely with customers and internal manufacturing teams to define DFx requirements and rules. Their goal will be to ensure adherence to targets set for all Process Metrics and timely generation and circulation of DFx Reports to stakeholders.

In addition, they will mentor the team and guide them towards effective deliverables. They will also train new and existing team members on relevant software and tools.

Key skills and knowledge required include:

  • PCBA process including stencil, solder paste printing, SMT, wave-soldering, assembly, and box build.
  • Good knowledge of IPC standards.
  • PCB fabrication process including PCB layers, PCB design, and electronics component packages.
  • Ability to define DFx procedures and checklists.
  • Knowledge of PCBA Test development process including ICT, FCT, Flying Probe Test, etc.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Minimum 4-7 years' experience in DFx methodologies, PCBA DFM process, DFT, and DFA analysis.
  • Bachelor of Technology (Elec / Electronics), Diploma (Elect / Electronics).
