Job Title: System Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the stability of our products and services using various internal tools.
  • Provide L1/L2 support for hosting products, including cpanel, plesk, vps, cloud, and dedicated servers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with various products and services.
  • Communicate clearly with teams about technical issues and demonstrate a sense of urgency to resolve them.
  • Develop automation workflows to automate repeated tasks.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to deploy and maintain Linux/Windows servers using automated scripts and predefined runbooks.
  • Ensure operational standards are met.

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, with consistently strong academic performance.
  • Proficiency in Linux Systems, including Shell/Bash, sed, awk, grep, egrep, VI/VIM/Emacs, netstat, lsof, strace, ps, atop, dstat, grub boot config, systems rescue, fstab, disk labels, ext3/ext4, IPtables, sysstat, run-levels, startup scripts, sudo, chroot, chkrootkit, rkhunter.
  • Familiarity with Windows, including Windows 2000/2003/2008, NTFS, chkdisk, ACLs, troubleshooting system/application faults using Event logs, Updates via WSUS, Terminal Services, IIS Fundamentals.
  • Basic DNS and Networking knowledge, TCP/UDP, IP Routing, HA and Load Balancing Concepts.
  • Knowledge of Application Protocols, including SMTP, HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including night shifts and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Cloud concepts.
  • Systems/Hardware knowledge, including RAID, LOM, IPMI, IP KVMs, Dell Hardware.
  • Windows knowledge, including WMI, Powershell, VB scripts, MS-SQL Fundamentals.
  • Applications knowledge, including Postfix, qmail, Exim, Database Systems Fundamentals (MySQL, Postgres), Nginx/Apache (mod_php, mod_fcgid, CGI, php-fpm etc), Tomcat.
  • Tools/Utilities knowledge, including Nagios, DHCP, Kickstart/Cobbler, Yum, RPM, GIT/SVN.
  • Regular expressions knowledge and Rescue Kits like TRK.
  • Certification as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
