Role Purpose

As a key member of the GKN Automotive team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and development. The Customer Account Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing sales strategies to customer accounts, focusing on growing relationships, identifying opportunities, and leveraging account management skills to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and developing important customer relationships, working closely with senior colleagues and/or account teams to deliver day-to-day support. This will involve developing and implementing relationship management plans for complex existing customer accounts, identifying and building relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization, and ensuring the effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues.

Customer Needs Clarification

The successful candidate will be required to set clear objectives for each sales call or meeting, tailor standard materials to make presentations to decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization, and ask relevant questions to gather information, evaluate the customer's level of interest, and identify areas requiring further information or explanation.

Sell Customer Propositions

The Customer Account Manager will be responsible for using personal expertise to identify complex standard products and/or services offered by the organization that meet the customer's needs, presenting these to the customer with a clear rationale and at standard commercial terms, and referring to senior colleagues where necessary to ask for concessions that gain the customer's agreement.

Operational Compliance

The successful candidate will be required to develop their capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities, formal and informal training, and coaching, and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of education and a minimum of 13 months to 3 years of experience as an experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised. They will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will also have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
