Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Job Description

About the Role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks using Python/Java and Selenium WebDriver.
  • Achieve full test coverage of web applications by automating functional, regression, API, and integration test cases.
  • Implement performance, compatibility, and reliability testing strategies for enhanced software quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure shift-left testing strategies are aligned with Agile/DevOps principles.
  • Develop and review test plans, test cases, and test scripts for thorough coverage and traceability.
  • Support DevOps efforts by automating infrastructure validation, smoke testing in cloud deployments, and monitoring pipelines.
  • Participate in code reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement discussions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Programming: Strong hands-on experience in Python is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of Java.
  • Automation: Solid expertise with Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Pytest, or Robot Framework.
  • Web API Testing: Experience with RESTful/SOAP APIs using Postman, Rest Assured, or Python libraries.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.
  • Version Control: Essential Git/GitHub/GitLab experience.
  • Database Testing: Knowledge of SQL queries for data validation.
  • Agile Practices: Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
