Senior Cable Design Engineer

In this pivotal role, you will lead our global clients' technical operations, driving innovation and excellence in EHV and HV cable design. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our industry.

This is a full-time position that demands exceptional skills and experience in cable design. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating sourcing requests from internal customers and providing technical input to ensure optimal solutions.
  • Designing high-voltage cables for EHV and HV applications, adhering to rigorous safety standards.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimize sourcing requests based on supplier capabilities.

Additionally, your tasks will involve:

  • Converting customer inquiries into cable sourcing requests, demonstrating exceptional communication skills.
  • Performing technical clarifications with suppliers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizing calculation tools (Excel) to determine wire screen/metal sheath size and perform short circuit calculations.
  • Verifying conductor sizes using CYMCAP and performing drum length calculations to ensure accuracy.
  • Checking and accepting technical data sheets from suppliers to guarantee quality.
  • Recording prequalification and type test coverage of offered cables to maintain a high level of service.
  • Ensuring that documents shared with external customers align with the supplier marketing strategy.
  • Preparing Quality Control Plans and ITPs with suppliers to ensure seamless integration.
  • Reviewing and accepting Quality Records from suppliers to maintain transparency.
  • Witnessing in-process, routine, and sample tests to guarantee quality control.
  • Preparing type tests and identifying areas for improvement to enhance processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in EHV or HV cable design, with a proven track record of success.
