About This Role

This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing COBOL applications that meet business requirements. You will write, test, and debug COBOL code for high-performance batch and online processing, modify and update existing COBOL applications, and create and maintain JCL scripts to manage batch jobs for data processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cobol Programming:
    • Develop COBOL applications that meet business needs.
    • Create high-performance batch and online processing COBOL code.
    • Update existing COBOL applications to improve efficiency.
  • JCL (Job Control Language):
    • Create and maintain JCL scripts to manage batch jobs for data processing.
    • Optimize JCL for job scheduling, monitoring, and error handling.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve JCL-related issues.
  • Database Interaction:
    • Design and develop DB2 queries to interact with databases.
    • Integrate COBOL programs with DB2 for data retrieval, insertion, and updating.
    • Ensure database integrity and handle SQL optimization.
  • VSAM and CICS:
    • Work with VSAM files to store and retrieve data efficiently.
    • Interact COBOL programs seamlessly with VSAM files.
    • Perform file management tasks.
    • Develop and maintain CICS-based applications.
    • Optimize transaction processing in a CICS environment.
    • Debug and resolve CICS transactions issues.
  • Agile Methodology:
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features incrementally.
    • Ensure timely delivery of COBOL-based solutions within Agile sprints.
  • Domain Knowledge:
    • Develop software that aligns with banking regulations and business processes.
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in financial transactions.
    • Stay informed about changes in the banking domain and ensure compliance.
