About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Music Teacher to join our team. As a specialist in music education, you will play a vital role in designing and delivering lessons that cater to the unique needs of our students with special educational requirements.

Responsibilities will include planning and delivering engaging music lessons, utilising assistive technologies and adaptive techniques to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all learners. You will also be responsible for promoting music as a means of self-expression and communication, collaborating with therapists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities, and assessing student progress using tailored benchmarks.

In addition to your teaching expertise, we require a candidate who is able to manage a classroom environment safely and sensitively, maintaining a positive and structured atmosphere for learning. Experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred, as is knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents. A creative and patient approach is essential for this role, along with a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

About You

To succeed in this position, you will require:

  • A degree in Carnatic or Hindustani Music, or equivalent qualification;
  • At least 3 years' experience working with children in a mainstream or special school setting;
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (desirable);
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (desirable);
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education;
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing;
  • Familiarity with Tamil language and culture;
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude.
