Research Chemist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled research chemist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field, with 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on the bench, preferably in an industry.

Technical skills include multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, compound isolation, chromatography, spectroscopic analysis, and purification techniques. Soft skills include creativity, productivity, problem-solving, excellent communication, teamwork, and commitment to lab safety.

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively within a team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry.
  • Postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry (optional).
  • 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on the bench, preferably in an industry.

Key qualifications include:

  • Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation.
  • Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others).
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols.
