Senior Redshift Engineer

Job Description:

As a Senior AWS Redshift Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, optimizing, and scaling AWS Redshift environments. This involves leading architecture review and validation for multiple clusters, validating sizing assumptions, and providing right-sizing recommendations.

Additionally, you will define and implement operational excellence best practices, including runbooks, monitoring, and alerting. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and health metrics for Redshift platforms, analyze and optimize query performance, and establish schema governance and change management/version control processes.

You will also act as a strategic, consultative resource, collaborating with client teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Redshift environments.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in data engineering or database engineering/administration, with deep hands-on expertise in AWS Redshift.
  • Proven experience in cluster architecture review, sizing, and right-sizing recommendations.
  • Strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals: table design, WLM tuning, vacuum operations, concurrency scaling.
  • Ability to develop and implement operational best practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management.
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills—able to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in client-facing roles within professional services, consulting, or enterprise environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of strategic outcomes.
