Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all regulatory matters related to the Free Trade Warehousing Zones (FTWZ) are handled smoothly and efficiently. This will involve liaising with various government agencies, including SEZ authorities, customs, and planning authorities, to ensure that all necessary permissions and licenses are obtained in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle official communication with SEZ authorities and other related bodies
  • Manage administrative requirements of SEZ officials
  • Attend to various audits of SEZ, customs, DRI, SIIB, ISO, and other related bodies
  • Handle confiscations, seizures, disposal/E-auction of long-standing export and import cargo
  • Handle cases of short shipments, excess cargo, back to town, high sea sales, Bonding, debonding, warehousing (EXIM & domestic), etc.
  • Attend meetings/investigations with SEZ/customs/DRI/CBI/CSTAT and other law enforcement bodies
  • Manage and guide other departments to follow various rules and practices laid down by relevant regulatory bodies
  • Act as single point contact for Customers/CHAs for any issues in completion of Customs-related coordination with Shipping Lines, important importers/exporters, and acting as Key Account Manager for prominent customers and resolving their clearance-related issues to ensure timely handover
  • Arrange timely completion of activities and documentation of EXIM transactions as per rules and regulations of Customs and trade practices
  • Help maintain process flow and documentation for EXIM activities in online coordination with various departments for completion of activities like weighment, shifting, grounding, repairing, etc.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors, surveyors, etc., for timely completion of activities including handover of urgent, time-bound, and reefer cargo
  • Liaise with and manage external legal advisors/counsel in relation to legal issues-court litigations and dispute resolutions, opinions, regulatory issues, and brief counsel on legal matters, ensuring that the organization is effectively represented in any legal action taken by or against it
  • Be actively involved in preparing documents to be filed with courts, arbitral tribunal, and working towards resolving legal disputes/claims and initiating/defending legal proceedings and regulatory matters as necessary
  • Participate in evaluating and identifying the best options for obtaining permissions from Regulatory Authorities and participate in preparing and obtaining permissions
  • Prepare and make applications and obtain permissions from Regulatory Authorities
  • Work closely with heads of BU's and cross-functional teams like Finance, Operations, Commercial, and Human Capital teams on day-to-day legal issues as necessary
  • Respond to legal notices and finalize notices to be sent on behalf of the company in conjunction with the company's solicitors
  • Advise and monitor developments in litigation cases and amalgamate the same on a Pan SCO basis

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in relation to Special Economic Zones Act and Rules
  • Hands-on knowledge of prevailing SEZ guidelines
  • Ability to understand customer business, applicable regulations, and the relevance of FTWZ laws
  • Basic understanding of corporate and business law
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interpret legal requirements and apply to relevant business operations
  • Ability to understand commercial and financial drivers
  • Ability to prioritize parallel projects and meet demanding deadlines

Estimated Salary: ₹80,000 - ₹1,20,000 per month
