Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team. As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare all basic food items for the menu as requested by your supervisor.
- Maintain advanced knife handling skills to ensure efficiency and safety in the kitchen.
- Work effectively in any section of the kitchen, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.
- Demonstrate good food knowledge and understanding of culinary terms to provide excellent service to customers.
- Read, understand, follow, and prepare company recipes to deliver consistent results.
- Evaluate tasks efficiently and productively, identifying areas for improvement.
- FOLLOW Public Health standards according to company expectations within their section to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain assigned area in preparation for announced or unannounced inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Report for duty at assigned times, follow supervisor's instructions, and maintain personal appearance, uniform, and hygiene according to company rules and regulations.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Manage costs through proper use, handling, and maintenance of records, reports, supplies, and equipment.
Motivational Responsibilities:
- No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Education:
- At least 4 years in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service with at least 2 years as Culinary Specialist (shipboard experience preferred).
- Culinary school degree required.
- Demonstrate strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and people skills to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills to provide exceptional experiences.
- Knowledge of personalized services, including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
- Strong planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling, and evaluating skills to achieve business objectives.
- Intermediate computer software skills required.
- Understand basic accounting principles such as numbering flow, debits/credits, adjusting entries, and corrections.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence and establish a good rapport with Senior Officers and corporate office.
Internal Candidate Requirements:
- Completion of at least one contract as Commis Cook with a performance rating of satisfactory or above, along with demonstrated leadership skills.
