Senior Data Engineer Role

The role of a Senior Data Engineer is crucial in designing and building the backbone of AI-powered applications. The successful candidate will report to the Head of AI and Engineering and be responsible for creating scalable, event-driven data pipelines that support real-time clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Pipeline Design and Operation: Develop reliable systems to design, build, and operate data pipelines that ingest, track, and update clinical events in real-time.
  • EHR/EMR Integration: Integrate with electronic health record systems using standards such as Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and Health Level Seven (HL7).
  • Clinical Event Tracking: Ensure high-quality, structured data is delivered to downstream machine learning systems for inference and decision support.
  • Pipeline Performance Monitoring: Establish robust monitoring, error handling, and observability for pipeline performance.
  • Collaboration with ML Engineers: Collaborate with machine learning engineers to align data flows with model needs.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines.
  • Background: Strong background in workflow orchestration and event-driven systems.
  • Skills: Proficiency with relational databases and SQL, as well as handling unstructured data.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience operating in cloud environments and working with distributed, highly available systems.
  • Delivery Track Record: Track record of delivering data infrastructure that supports machine learning or analytics applications.
  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to drive projects independently while working as part of a cross-functional team.
Bonus Requirements:
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data security/privacy requirements.
  • Familiarity: Familiarity with FHIR/HL7 data modeling in production settings.
  • Supporting Machine Learning Pipelines: Experience supporting machine learning inference pipelines in real-world applications.
  • Image Data Expertise: Expertise with image data.
  • Vector Databases and Document Retrieval Systems: Exposure to vector databases, embedding stores, or document retrieval systems.
  • Healthcare IT Background: Background in healthcare IT, clinical workflows, or health data analytics.
