Job Description:We are looking for a dedicated professional to diagnose and treat mental illnesses in our patients. As a Mental Health Specialist, you will be responsible for discussing with patients and observing their behaviors to identify mental disorders. Your top responsibilities will include determining treatments and prescribing medications as needed.
To excel in this role, you should have a strong understanding of various psychotherapeutic methods and excellent communication skills to explain medical terms and conditions to non-medical audiences. A great bedside manner, calm demeanor, empathy, and patience are essential when interacting with patients suffering from severe mental disorders.
- Patient Evaluation: Review patients' medical history, collect additional information from family members and psychologists as needed, and evaluate patients' emotional, behavioral, and mental state through discussion, observation, and analysis.
- Treatment Planning: Identify mental disorders and determine the best treatments, develop therapy plans, and prescribe medications as required.
- Medical Coordination: Analyze medical tests, track patients' progress, and coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is necessary.
- Support and Education: Advise patients on how to cope with mental diseases and emotional breakdowns, support patients' loved ones, and inform them about patients' conditions.
- Educational Background: MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS).
- Residency Program: Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry.
- Work Experience: At least 3 years of work experience as a Psychiatrist or Mental Health Specialist.
