Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

 

Job Description:

As a seasoned database expert, you will be responsible for the strategic administration and maintenance of multiple Oracle databases across various locations in a distributed environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and Training: Provide end-to-end user support, conduct period health checks on databases, formulate new requirements after taking inputs from implementation and support teams, generate ad-hoc reports, provide data setup support for QA and Dev environments, master data maintenance, monitor and administer report queues, troubleshoot DB issues, identify bottlenecks and resolve them.
  • Coordination with Vendor: Coordinate with vendors about new patches related to databases as well as applications, new requirements, and bugs within specified timelines.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Provide technical training to peers and subordinates within the IT department.
  • Release Deployment: Test product patches released by vendors, track issues till closure, support User Acceptance Testing for new features/functionality added in HIS and related systems, provide go-live support post deployment of new features.
  • Following Departmental Processes: Maintain issue trackers on a daily basis, maintain approval records, perform any other duties assigned by the reporting manager.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across Medanta group of hospitals on short-term or long-term basis.
  • Healthcare provider space knowledge is desirable.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in Oracle database architecture along with cloning, patching, and upgrade.
  • Understanding of installation/troubleshooting/monitoring of Oracle Golden Gate - 11g bidirectional replication.
  • Experience with production critical/multi-terabyte Oracle Databases - 11g/10g administration, monitoring, proactive health check of the database.
  • Knowledge in database backup/recovery including Hot Backup, Cold Backup, and RMAN [Duplicate Database: Active/Backup].
  • Experience in SQL query tuning and database performance analysis.
  • Administration of oracle partitioned tables and their maintenance.
  • Administration of Oracle Application Server / Oracle Forms & Reports Server - 10g/11g along with Oracle WebLogic Server 11g will be an additional advantage.
  • Expertise in disaster recovery strategies for production/non-production databases. [Active/Passive Dataguard].
  • Experienced in packages and tools like SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Oracle RMAN, OEM, OUI, DBCA, NETCA etc.
  • Proficiency in security administration like auditing, creating users, roles, profiles, assigning object-level and column-level grants, controlling users' access to system resources etc.
  • Basic UNIX shell commands and scripting [ssh, vi, grep, sed, awk etc.].
  • Time management, organizing, analytical/problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of Sql server database architecture along with administration, patching, and upgrade.
