Database Administrator

Our company is dedicated to building a robust digital public health delivery platform and improving data-driven governance.

One of our most successful initiatives is AMRIT, a first-of-its-kind integrated health technology platform that supports clinical excellence for millions of beneficiaries.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases that power platforms like AMRIT. This involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of databases while supporting day-to-day operations, deployments, and data-driven decision-making.

The DBA will work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to design, optimize, and troubleshoot database systems that support healthcare delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain relational database systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) both on-premises and on cloud.
  • Monitor database performance and tune queries, indexes, and configurations to ensure optimal response times.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, backup, and recovery processes are in place and regularly tested.
  • Automate routine database maintenance and deployment tasks using CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, or AWS-native services.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Collaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas, optimize queries, and implement best practices for scalable cloud-based applications.
  • Implement and monitor disaster recovery and high-availability strategies such as clustering, replication, multi-AZ, and failover setups in cloud platforms.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and cloud runbooks.

Desirable Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualification: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL (experience in SQL Server/Oracle is a plus).
  • • Expertise in database monitoring and observability tools.
  • • Deep understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning in high-transaction environments.
  • • Experience with backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and failover strategies.
  • • Familiarity with Linux environments, shell scripting, and automation tools.
  • • Good understanding of APIs, application-database interactions, and deployment workflows in microservices-based architectures.
  • • Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases including provisioning, scaling, security, and monitoring.
