Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, with a focus on infrastructure, energy, and M&M projects. They will be responsible for developing designs for complex engineering systems, structures, and plant arrangements, and will work closely with other technical disciplines to ensure seamless coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate 2-D CAD plant layouts and drawings using Microstation/AutoCAD/Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD models with minimal guidance.
  • Proficient in S3D/Revit modeling - equipment modeling, raceway, grounding, and lighting.
  • Prepare 3-D CAD design models under the supervision of experienced designers, and assist in constructing detailed models and participating in client model reviews.
  • Prepare bulk material quantity takeoffs for materials applicable to the discipline.
  • Review design models, drawings, and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
  • Compile, maintain, and access job drawing files, records, and drawing controls.
  • Work with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices, and CAD, or a recognized diploma.
  • Site experience will be an added advantage.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using S3D, Revit, Microstation/AutoCAD, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of raceway, lighting, grounding design and modeling, cable sizing.
  • General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
  • Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR.
  • Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings.
