Job Title:

Principal Data Engineer

Job Description:

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will design and develop scalable data ingestion and integration solutions to process business data smoothly into the TRD Data platform.

Ensure data is fit for use by applying technical and business rules during its life cycle. Look for automation opportunities or accelerators wherever possible.

Develop data pipelines using Python CI/CD and transformation workflows to process various data sets from ingestion to consumption layers.

Align with Solution Architects and vendors for best practices in data engineering.

Ensure data management practices are adopted towards data quality, standards, and ontologies.

Handle metadata effectively and leverage enterprise ontology management.

Adhere to FAIR data principles wherever applicable.

Perform requirement scoping assessments to determine project feasibility.

Highlight/identify gaps in existing functionality and review requirements with stakeholders.

Develop comprehensive requirement specifications to determine cost, time, and resource estimates for solution deployment.

Liaise with the service development team to suggest high-level functional solutions.

Develop project estimates and complete financial models (costs, savings, revenue opportunities, investment horizon, etc.).

Involve relevant stakeholders in new service specification and/or major upgrades to existing services.

Design and deploy data solutions that prioritize user experience.

Implement solutions according to specifications and ensure they are fit for purpose.

Support end-user trainings and self-service activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • University degree in Informatics, Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, or similar fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, IT, and healthcare.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL & BI data products using Python and R.
  • Knowledge of data transfer workflows and data error handling techniques.
  • Well-versed in data ingestion patterns in AWS cloud and third-party tools.
  • Experience handling data objects in AWS cloud S3 and Redbrick environments.
  • Strong SQL query writing skills on relational DBs like Oracle and MS SQL Server.
  • Good understanding of data consumption topics like data science, reports, dashboards, KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of ETL tools like Alteryx and BI tools like Power BI.
  • Good understanding of metadata and data discovery techniques.
  • Experience in AWS Cloud data integrations and data management technologies.
  • Familiarity with data architecture and engineering concepts, including data modeling, data lakes, data analytics, etc.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Agile project experience and methodology.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
